Brass, lacquered metal and black leather
T. Kellein, Alvar & Aino Aalto. Design Collection Bischofberger, catalogue of the exhibition, Kunsthalle ed., Bielefeld, Zurich, 2005, pp. 184-185 (similar version)
Manufactured by Valaistustyö in 1952, the Mod. 808 floor lamp was designed by Alvar Aalto for National Pensions Institute in Helsinki. The leather-covered base and stand gives the floor lamp a subtle elegance, while the polished brass shade both reflects and diffuses light, creating a warm ambient. This peculiar combination of materials allows the lamp to easily complement any interior, adapting to a variety of settings.
