Cast aluminium, glass, electronic components
Designed by Andrea Mancuso, Lumiac explores the relationship between human and machine, between organic gesture and artificial thought. Conceived as a kinetic ceiling lamp, it comes to life through a choreography of light and movement, challenging the idea of design as static. An acronym for Light Unit Mechanized Intelligence Apparatus Computer, its name echoes Maniac, one of the earliest computers of the 1950s, linking the project to the origins of computational thinking. A cast aluminum structure with articulated arms supports blown glass spheres, while integrated motors control motion and light. Lumiac unfolds over time, where illumination becomes behavior.
