Pauline Esparon
Born in 1993 (France), Pauline Esparon has established a distinctive design approach, revolving around the notion of the «raw». She explores the primary state of natural materials before there standardization by industry. Through an intuitive process, she rediscovers the inherent qualities of materials and deconstruct the obvious uses and forms that often surround them.
She also questions the culture of materials, their heritage, their survival, their system. In this way, she explores an alternative form of production by questioning poor materials, the means and ends of processes, and the perspectives of craftsmanship.
"It's less about transforming than rewinding."
This singular attraction to materials – as a sensitive existence and as a cultural vector – has carried her throughout her career (Duperré, the Design Academy Eindhoven, ECAL). The pieces that emerge from this approach are at the crossroads of sculpture, craft and applied art and entered public collections, such as the Mobilier National, the CNAP and the FRAC Ile de France.
