DESIGNER

VON PELT atelier

Born in Spain, Désirée Mejer operates as the creative director of VON PELT atelier—a project initiated in 2012 that behaves less like a studio and more like a changing formation.

VON PELT doesn’t follow a linear design path. Each collection starts as an artistic inquiry: a cultural reference, a material obsession, a historical detail, a belief, a fragment of nature. Mejer leads the concept, the narrative, and the direction, then gathers a shifting group of collaborators—craft specialists, artists, and technical experts—chosen specifically for what each project asks for. The team changes because the questions change.

"If it’s not extraordinary, it’s not Von Pelt…"

Before objects, there was fashion: years working across London, Italy, and Asia, where making, re-making, and re-reading materials became second nature. That same instinct now runs through von pelt: ceramics, resin, brass, textiles, and hybrids that resist category. A recurring thread is an objet trouvé approach—materials and existing objects are reinterpreted and given another life, not as a recycling statement, but as an investigation into the essence of things and how context transforms meaning.

VON PELT is intentionally not personality-led. A certain anonymity is preferred so the pieces can speak on their own terms—Direct, singular, and unapologetically present. Made for the intelligent collector, the work is not meant to fill space, but to hold it.

VON PELT is not classifiable—and has been shown in London, Milan, Berlin, Madrid, New York, UAE, and Los Angeles, with works held in collections worldwide.
