Consagra's work aimed to liberate sculpture from its traditional three-dimensional form, which he considers as an imposing an authoritative center. His theory of "frontal sculpture" placed the object directly before the viewer, encouraging an immediate dialogue. This innovative approach, developed in the 1950s, emphasizes the dynamic relationship between sculpture, space, and the observer.
