Description

Italy, Florence, XIX Century

White marble

This life-size sculpture of the Diana of Gabii by Antonio Frilli is a refined reinterpretation of an earlier Greek model traditionally attributed to Praxiteles. Sculpted in marble, it depicts a woman draped in flowing garments, likely representing the goddess Artemis, captured in a moment of poised grace. Signed “A. FRILLI / FIRENZE,” the work exemplifies the sculptor’s mastery in translating classical ideals.
