Manufactured by Laminarco in 1979–1980, the SECS stool was conceived for the Centro de Lazer Fábrica da Pompéia (later known as SESC Pompéia), one of Bo Bardi’s most emblematic architectural projects in São Paulo. Developed as part of her vision for accessible, community-centered design, the SECS stool embodies her commitment to simplicity, functionality, and the honest use of materials. Its robust yet graceful form reflects Bo Bardi’s belief in the social value of design—where architecture and objects alike invite participation, dialogue, and collective experience. Today, this piece stands as a symbol of Brazilian modernism’s humanist spirit and Bo Bardi’s enduring legacy.
