Maria Grazia Rosin

Maria Grazia Rosin was born in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. She lives and works in Venice. She was educated at the Istituto d’Arte in Cortina and went on to study under the guidance of Emilio Vedova at the Academy of Fine arts in Venice, where she graduated in 1983.In 1992, she began collaborating with the Master Glass Blowers in Murano, producing her first artworks in glass. This experience led her to broaden the visionary bi-dimensional concepts she had explored in her large scale paintings and embrace the three-dimensional potential that glass offered. Today, glass is the focus of her uniquely probing experimentation. For her acclaimed personal show titled “Gelatine LUX” at Palazzo Fortuny in Venice in 2007.
Rosin created a site-specific installation in which her visually rich, starkly colored, sinuously shaped creations tipped the point where art meets design. Now a hallmark of her artworks, Rosin effortlessly integrates the centuries old artisan skills of the master glass-blower and the full potential of complex modern technology to achieve delicately controlled illumination, unsettling digital images and evocative sound effects that cheerfully disrupt many of our given assumptions
