The Sculptural Becomes Functional

NILUFAR DEPOT — Viale Lancetti 34 – Milan, IT

Natural Materials Are Fashioned Into Inspiring Forms Both Bold and Practical

Nilufar continuously looks to the evocative power of natural materials to present objects of beauty and substance. The works of designers Roberto Sironi and Palmalisa Zantedeschi; and José Zanine Caldas perfectly adhere to this philosophy as each molds monolithic blocks of matter into bold furnishings with attractive lines and surfaces. Like sculptors the pair work by subtracting, removing matter in order to create.

The vintage designs of José Zanine Caldas look to his native Brazil and its solid Pequi wood to transform into monumental seating. The contemporary pieces of Italy’s Roberto Sironi and stone editor and creative Palmalisa Zantedeschi, who together envisions consoles and benches in stone, rely on multicolored furnishings. As a collector, Zantedeschi oversees the research, interpretation, and production of works using rare materials and finishes. These stunning sculpted shapes are enhanced with the addition of elegant wall lighting by Joe Armitage and his forms inspired by nature.
