Designed by Made by ASTRONAUTS, the Agnes Bed draws on the historical threads linking early modern witch trials to culturally charged constructions of womanhood. Between the 15th and 17th centuries, midwives and female healers, carriers of embodied knowledge, were persecuted as witches as emerging medical and religious institutions sought to marginalize non institutional forms of care. Within this framework, the bed becomes a sculptural site where creation, intimacy and condemnation overlap, reframing reproduction and female experience as contested terrains shaped by fear and control.
