Ebonized wood, wood, parchment, pewter inlays, repoussé copper, bone, and silk tassels.
I Bugatti, Mazzotta, Milan, 1997 p. 25
Designed by Carlo Bugatti, this rare vintage chair reflects the designer’s poetic and symbolic sensibility. The structure in rich ebonized wood is animated by painted parchment panels depicting storks and wheat sheaves for the seat and backrest, while foliate pewter inlays introduce a refined linear rhythm. Repoussé copper and bone applications enrich the surface with sculptural contrast, and delicate tassels lend a subtle sense of movement. Balancing narrative decoration with rigorous craftsmanship, the chair transcends its functional role to become an intimate and evocative work of art.
