Painted ceramic
Envisioned and hand crafted by Davide Monaldi, this site specific sculptural project draws on Krampus folklore to reflect on the relationship between fear, discipline and domestic space. In Alpine tradition, Krampus is believed to enter the home to judge behaviour, while birch sticks and the sack symbolise correction and removal from the safety of the household. These elements reveal how moral order is historically embedded within family life and interior space. In this site specific installation, ceramic tiles are arranged to form a hearth, the symbolic and structural nucleus of the home, transforming folklore imagery into a contemporary domestic architecture.
