Adrien Audoux & Frida Minnet
Adrien Audoux & Frida Minnet were a French design duo active during the 1940s and 1950s. Embracing the ideals of the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM), they rejected the ornate style of the Société des Artistes Décorateurs (SAD). Their works reflected the spirit of postwar innovation and everyday living, focusing on functional, democratic design. Made with natural and affordable materials like rope, hemp, and tubular metal, their signature pieces include chairs, tables, and lighting with simple, handcrafted frames and woven details. They often collaborated with manufacturers such as Vibo to create accessible, modern furniture. Based in Golfe-Juan, near Vallauris, they were part of a lively artistic scene that included Pablo Picasso. There, they attracted a Riviera clientele, wealthy British and American visitors drawn to the elegance of “French taste”.
