Caturegli & Formica

Trained in the cultural milieu of Radical Architecture in Florence, Beppe Caturegli (1957) moved to Milan in 1982, marking the beginning of a longstanding professional collaboration with Ettore Sottsass, the Memphis group and the publication Terrazzo.
In 1987, in partnership with Giovannella Formica (1957-2019), he founded the design firm Caturegli Formica Architetti Associati. The passion for travel has inspired an anthropological approach to design culture, one which aims to resolve the dichotomy of mixed systems: industry/craft, global/local, mass-produced/one-off. This vision has resulted in a diverse portfolio, spanning architecture, unique carpets, interior design, paintings, industrial design and sculptures.
"The space of the artwork is life itself. Seeing reality in all its sides... The dark ones. One cannot do, first one has to see." (BC)
His works have been showcased globally at places like the Design Gallery, Nilufar Gallery, Assab One, Antonia Jannone Gallery, 44SPAZIO, 4IMBRIANI in Milano, FABBRICA nel BOSCO Monferrato, Citronne Gallery Athens, Artworx Athens, Céramiques Almadies in Dakar and museums, including the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Mino Ceramic Art Museum in Japan, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Triennale di Milano in Italy.
