Dino Martens

Corrado Martens, known as Dino (1894–1970), was a Venetian painter and glass designer. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, he moved to Murano in the 1920s, joining SALIR as a collaborator and partner. He exhibited at the Venice Biennale from 1924 to 1930 and worked as a draughtsman for Salviati & C. and Andrea Rioda in 1932.
From 1939 to 1963, he served as artistic director at Aureliano Toso, where he created innovative glassware blending traditional Venetian techniques with bold, visionary designs. Dino was known for his sensitivity to glass, crafting asymmetrical forms and experimenting with pictorial and oriental techniques. His works were renowned for their technical complexity and unique artistic approach.
