Ilmari Tapiovaara

A Finnish designer, he trained as an interior architect and worked as an assistant at Le Corbusier’s studio in Paris. He then returned to Finland where he was influenced by Alvaar Aalto’s design in the functional rendering of wood. His most famous designs include the Domus chair, the Pirkka furniture line, the TT40 table, the Tale stool and the Trienna table. A six-time Gold Medal winner at the Milan Triennale, he is recognised as one of the world’s most influential designers.
