A self-taught designer, he moves independently and often against the current of the market of the time. With the company Móveis Artisticos Z, he proposes pieces with a modern design but a low price thanks to the use of an unexplored material, plywood. In his later projects, however, he showed a more elementary approach by experimenting with chiselling furniture directly from huge trunks – often of trees that had already been felled – creating organic and sculptural furniture.
