Italian-born Brazilian modernist architect, designer, scenographer and illustrator, Lina Bo Bardi (1914 – 1992) devoted her life and career to promoting the social and cultural potential of architecture and design. Together with her fellow Italian immigrant Giancarlo Palanti (1906 – 1977) she founded the Estúdio de Arte e Arquitectura Palma, which designed and produced iconic interior furnishings informed by the local vernacular styles, exotic wood and the simplicity of Mid-Century style.
