Maggie Cardelus

Maggie Cardelús is a Paris based, internationally exhibited, many media artist. Her work, comprised of wall pieces, sculpture, installations, performance, and video, has relied heavily on meticulous handcraft and a range of media to test and push the limits of family or amateur photographs as uniquely complex image-objects. She has also extended her photo-critical lens to explore the intersection of photographic processes with other media such as ceramics, painting, textiles, and more.

“My decades-long art-making expertise of knotting and folding photo paper found an ideal material in the pliable, warm sensuality of leather.”

Her work is in numerous public and private collections, and she is represented by Galleria Kaufmann Repetto (Milano), and F2 (Madrid). Maggie also works periodically by invitation with fashion and design firms. She presented a signature collection of eight prints for Miroglio Textile at Première Vision in 2013. She also collaborated a number of times with the French fashion maison Sonia Rykiel. Her 2016 textile design, Visages, was recognized by Vogue as among the top thirty, greatest art/fashion collaborations of all time. This experience led to her establish her own artist brand, for which she creates small collections of highly crafted, wearable sculptures she calls NeckPieces.
