DESIGNER

Marta Maas-Fjetterstrom

(Kimstad, 1873 – Helsingborg 1941)
An influential Swedish textile designer, Märta Maas-Fjetterström opened the studio bearing his name in 1919. Thanks to a group of skilled weavers, her designs – inspired by nature and geometry – were transformed into refined, hand-knotted tapestries and rugs. The collaboration with designer Barbro Nilsson who took the lead of the atelier after the founder’s death, proved to be fundamental. This opened a new era: original rugs with flat weaves and striking color combinations.
