Brazilian, after starting his career as a mechanical engineer, Percival Lafer dedicated himself to furniture design, founding in 1961 Lafer S.A. Indústria Brasileira de Móveis, which quickly became one of Brazil’s leading furniture manufacturers. Among Lafer’s most famous creations are the MP-163 and MP-165 lounge armchairs and the MP-053 sofa. Known for their comfort and functionality, Lafer’s modern furnishings are considered emblematic examples of 20th century Brazilian design.
