Studio A.R.D.I.T.I.

Studio A.R.D.I.T.I., founded in Florence in 1968 by Duccio Trassinelli (b. 1945). Members included Alessandro Mazzoni, Delle Stelle, Elisabetta Scheggi Merlini, and briefly, Gianni Gamberini. The collective made its mark with the 1970 publication of Manifesto Studio A.R.D.I.T.I. at the International Conference on Environmental Structures in Rimini, a political satire critiquing post-war consumerism. Although less famous than collectives like Memphis and Alchimia, Studio A.R.D.I.T.I. created influential design objects in the 1970s that redefined functional philosophy. The group disbanded in 1977, with members pursuing individual careers. Their works are now part of permanent collections at institutions like MoMA, the Centre Georges Pompidou, and the Vitra Design Museum.
