TIPSTUDIO
TIPSTUDIO is a design studio founded in 2020 by Imma Matera and Tommaso Lucarini that explores the potential of materials and production processes through a critical approach focused on research and experimentation.
Based in Florence and Pietrasanta, the studio draws on the diverse influences of the surrounding territory, bridging the gap between design and art.
TIPSTUDIO experiments with materials starting from an analysis of physical and immaterial territories, anthropological elements, and conceptual research, translating these reflections into products, spaces, and installations.
The studio’s practice ranges from the design and production of furniture and collectible objects to creative consultancy and research. The designers create products for companies as well as limited-edition collections in collaboration with galleries, private clients, and brands. Their collaborations include renowned institutions and brands such as Triennale Milano and Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI). Their works have been exhibited at international art and design events, including Salone del Mobile, PAD London, the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco, Dubai Opera, Collectible Brussels and others. Imma and Tommaso currently teach at IED Firenze.
"We explore the possibilities of materials and processes through a critical approach, focused on territories and experimentation. When we approach a project, it’s often about building a relationship with the material itself. We like to put the material in a state of responsiveness, allowing it to express itself and actively participate in the design process. It’s not just about TIPSTUDIO, it’s a collaboration, a true teamwork with the material."
Imma Matera, born in Matera in 1990, is passionate about storytelling and research-driven design. She studied at La Sapienza University of Rome, where she graduated with a research project on cultural experiences and an exhibition design project for Matera European Capital of Culture 2019.
