Vladimir Kagan

Vladimir Kagan (August 29, 1927 – April 7, 2016) was a renowned American furniture designer, celebrated for his innovative and sculptural approach to design. Initially drawn to painting and sculpture, Kagan’s interest eventually shifted toward architecture and design during his formative years. He studied Architecture at Columbia University before joining his father, Illi Kagan, a skilled cabinetmaker, in 1947 to learn the craft of furniture making in his woodworking shop. By the early 1950s, his groundbreaking sculptural pieces had revolutionized the American furniture scene. In 2009, his contributions to design were honored with an induction into the Interior Designer Hall of Fame.
