Willy Rizzo

Willy Rizzo (1928–2013) was an Italian photographer and designer, known for his iconic furniture creations. Starting his career in photography, he captured legends like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Salvador Dalí. However, in 1966, Rizzo transitioned to furniture design in Rome, quickly gaining popularity with figures like Ghighi Cassini and Brigitte Bardot. By 1968, he established a studio in Tivoli, employing over 150 people.
Rizzo designed more than thirty pieces of furniture, which were sold in boutiques across Europe and the U.S., and are now exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. After stepping away from furniture design in 1978, he returned briefly in the 1980s and again in the mid-2000s, collaborating with Paul Smith and Mallett Antiques.
