Ceiling Lamp Piero
Based in Copenhagen, danish designer Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt has made a name for herself by creating bespoke lamps and chandeliers in plexiglass and brass. Her pieces meet at the intersection of art, craft and design, evoking the style of the german bauhaus, french art nouveau and 1960s italian design.
The PIERO series is an investigation of colors, materials and form. The edgy brass shape frames the plexiglass, the colors and the light to reflect the light warmly. The shape of the brass frame combined with the shapes of the plexiglass creates a complex geometrical composition. With plexiglass of different grades of translucency Vibeke controls the light. The light passes through the transparent layers and enhances the colors. The opaque layers shield the light source, but still allow light to pass. This creates a contrast- filled interplay of color, geometry and construction that produces light, reflections and mirror effects.
