The case of Thonet 14 is a prime example of Salvetti’s modus operandi; the legendary chair produced at Koritschan, in Moravia 150 years ago, has acquired, through this reworking, a series of formal, technical-producing, symbolic and sociological values. The first is a framework made of plaster – a material used above all to heal bone fractures of the human body – and it boasts strong organic symbolising features. In the second version metal simulates a covering made of adhesive tape: a popular means to refit home appliances and tools. The last proposal is a covering reproducing the same effect ivy creates on trees and plants. Andrea Salvetti brings the Re-Thonet 14 collection and the Apparita seat to Milan, both exhibited in Paris in the historic Artcurial space on the Champs Élysées.
