Inspired by celestial bodies, the collection’s aesthetic language is filled with references evoking the timeless allure of the Sun, Moon, and stars bringing them to life through a collection of unique, symbolic pieces. Declined in an array of unique
objects, the collection includes tables, side tables, mirrors, lamps, a console, and a cabinet. A defining characteristic of the collection is its use of contrasting finishes. Some pieces, such as the Sole dining table and cabinet, retain their natural, unpolished bronze surface, highlighting the material’s natural beauty. Others, like the Notturno mirror and dining table, are enriched by a dark patina in deep shades of blue and green adding a mysterious, ethereal touch to the collection. To bring this new collection to life, Filippo Carandini collaborated with Fonderia Artistica Campagner, the renowned foundry headed by Davide Campagner, the master craftsman and guardian of this time-honored tradition.
The deliberately rough, textured surfaces suggest objects that have withstood the passage of time. The table legs, in particular, reference ancient astronomical instruments, while the Knossiana raffia lampshade introduces an earthy, primitive element that complements the metallic forms.
The creation of each piece from the collection follows a traditional and meticulous artistic process. Hand-modeled by Carandini, the clay forms, lost after the initial sand casting process, give rise to the first bronze castings that serve as model for future editions. This artisanal approach ensures that each piece is one of a kind, maintaining a sense of strength and timelessness throughout. The interior wall decoration of the space dedicated to Filippo Carandini is entrusted to artist Maria Rodina. Hand-painted by Rodina herself, the wall narrates the story of the universe that surrounds us, made up of planets, stars, and constellations—distant and veiled, requiring only a moment to visualize and sense the connections within. A preparatory drawing composed of circular color blocks is gradually concealed under layers of shades that create an atmosphere over the initial elements, leaving only a trace of their original presence. Through ‘Muse’, Filippo Carandini invites visitors to Nilufar Depot to experience a dialogue between ancient traditions and modern design, the celestial and the terrestrial. This collection is a perfect reflection of Nilufar’s ongoing dedication to design excellence as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations.
