The ASTA series was created for the Chez Nina Club Episode II - a club imagined by India Mahdavi for Nilufar during the MDW in 2019. The ASTA lights are the result of a process driven by color dynamics, translucence and craftsmanship, fusing method and aesthetic in plexiglass and brass. The lights are constructed of a mix of opaque and transparent plexiglass. The light passes through the transparent layers and enhances the colors.The opaque layers shield the lightsource, but still allow the light to pass. This creates a contrast- filled interplay of color, geometry and construction that produces light, reflections and mirror effects.
