Italy, 1984. Manufactured by Memphis
metal and white concrete conglomerate and glass
Manufactured by Memphis in 1983, this Mod. Kyoto low table was designed using the traditional Terrazzo technique, which incorporates colored stone to create a distinctive texture. Kuramata aimed to push the boundaries of materiality, creating a piece with a strong sense of lightness and minimalism, reinforced by the using of glass instead of stone. The adaptation of a traditional technique and the selection of peculiar materials highlights the designer's contemporary approach, blending simplicity and elegance drawn from the Japanese culture.
