OUTDOOR

An integral part of the immersive experience at Nilufar Grand Hotel, during Milan Design Week 2026 the outdoor courtyard of Nilufar Depot becomes a relaxed environment, conceived as a pause from the city’s pace.

Here, the new pieces from Andrea Mancuso’s Punteggiato collection are presented: a project that reinterprets the industrial language of perforated metal into a system that is both structural and expressive. Comprising stools, armchairs, and tables, the collection develops a coherent and scalable logic across different scales. The seating is formed from single curved aluminum sheets: increasing the material’s thickness transforms the perforated surface from lightweight cladding into a load-bearing element. The holes reduce visual density while accommodating lateral pins that ensure stability, contributing to the overall balance of the structure. The use of aluminum, instead of steel, provides lightness, durability, and suitability for outdoor use, enhanced by regenerative production processes.

A central aspect of the project is the dialogue with textiles. The seating is upholstered in Rubelli’s historic Punteggiato fabric, designed by Gio Ponti in the 1930s and first presented at the 1934 Venice Biennale. In the ruby variant, the pattern echoes and amplifies the rhythm of the perforations, creating a visual and tactile continuity between metal and textile, and establishing a conversation between industrial production and decorative refinement.

The tables combine perforated aluminum structures with Rosso Francia marble tops, while the deep red powder-coated finishes unify the collection tonally. In this balance between industrial rigor and decorative sensitivity, the Punteggiato collection guides visitors into a relaxed, welcoming dimension, in continuity with the narrative of the hotel.
