DESIGNER

Gabriella Crespi

Artist, designer, and entrepreneur, Gabriella Crespi studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano. Since the 1950s, she has dedicated herself to creating handcrafted furniture and decorative accessories that blend design with sculptural abstraction. As a result of her intense collaboration with master artisans, whose contacts she cherished, she began producing a series of famous collections in the 1960s: the first, Lune, is a line of lamps, frames, and other accessories inspired by the shape of Earth’s satellite; Caleidoscopi, luminous structures with sharp surfaces; Obelischi, an iconic series that recalls the symbol of the divine for the ancient Egyptians; Plurimi, named as a tribute to the artist Emilio Vedova, famous for his Scultura tables, Ellisse, and Cubo Magico; and Rising Sun, which explores versatile materials like rattan, plexiglass, and brass in lamps, beds, and seating. For her invaluable legacy, she has always been a reference point for the aesthetic sensitivity and collecting ethos of Nilufar.
