Description

Brazil, 1949-1951 ca.

Pau marfim wood

Crafted in Pau marfim wood, this Console was designed by Estúdio de Arte Palma, founded by Lina Bo Bardi and Giancarlo Palanti in São Paulo in the late 1940s. The identification of the piece was made possible with the support of the Instituto Bardi | Casa de Vidro. Originally selected by architect Rino Levi for the foyer of the Teatro Cultura Artística in São Paulo, the table reflects Estúdio Palma’s commitment to uniting modern design principles with Brazilian craftsmanship. Its essential geometry and refined materiality exemplify a humanist approach to modernism—where form, function, and local culture coexist in perfect harmony.
