Jute collection

Wood, jute canvas, jute fiber
Designed by Pauline Esparon during her Villa Swagatam residency, a programme of the French Institute in India, the DjigDjig Daybed reimagines raw jute beyond its customary associations with utility. Crafted in collaboration with the embroidery artisans of Vastrakala (House of Lesage), the piece reveals unexpected qualities of luminosity and softness, shifting between textures reminiscent of fur and silk. Through exceptional embroidery, jute is transformed from structure to surface, reflecting a dialogue between contemporary design and the enduring expertise of Indian embroidery traditions.
