The Ceramic relief paintings mark a significant evolution in Lola Montes’ multidimensional oeuvre. Drawing inspiration from the works of Lucio Fontana and the classical ceramics of Luca della Robbia, Montes celebrates ceramic’s alchemical qualities. Each piece is uniquely molded, glazed and fired, transforming from malleable mud into fixed form, from pigment and water into a solid painting.
