Gamper-Ponti collection
Italy, 2007. Unique example
Formica, wood, metal
This unique piece was realized by the designer during the performance “Gio Ponti translated by Martino Gamper” in 2007, a reprocessing of furniture originally designed by Gio Ponti for Hotel Parco dei Principi in Sorrento, 1960. For Martino Gamper, deconstruction, much more than mere standard practice, is a path to knowledge. His interaction with objects is both intimate and physical, sparking an emotional reaction that he processes through performance. This leads to an immediate, creative response, which he describes as Action Design.
