Nilufar announces its participation at the first edition of Salone Raritas, the new initiative by Salone del Mobile.Milano dedicated to collectible design and excellence in high-end craftsmanship.
“I’m very pleased to take part in the inaugural edition of Raritas, which I approach with great curiosity and interest,” says Nina Yashar. “Nilufar was born from a constant desire to explore what has not yet been fully told, giving space to new languages and to objects and visions that come from different contexts and engage in dialogue without hierarchies. Raritas represents something I deeply relate to as it’s not so much a trend as an attitude, a sensibility that I believe is very important to see supported today by an institution like the Salone del Mobile. It creates a new platform dedicated to research, experimentation and vision. It is a strong signal for Milan and for the new possibilities that an opening toward collectible design can bring.”
Nilufar will present a selection curated by its founder Nina Yashar, showcasing the full breadth of her vision by bringing together vintage icons, Nilufar Edition furniture and contemporary works.
Among the contemporary voices featured are Andrea Mancuso, presenting the Terrario table, Maximilian Marchesani with his monumental Famiglia ceiling lamp, American designer Lola Montes with a selection of hand-painted ceramics and VON PELT Atelier, marking its debut with the new Vanitas mirror. A significant presence is also dedicated to pieces from Nilufar Edition, a project unique within the world of design where, free from market constraints, design meets the refined craftsmanship of the Renaissance workshop tradition. Collaborations with contemporary talents have given rise to works such as the Orient modular armchair system by david/nicolas, the Lantern Stack wall lamp by Anna Karlin, the Tenet side table by Filippo Carandini and the Trilangolo rug by Martino Gamper.
Moving into the vintage selection, the display includes works by Edward J Wormley, Joaquim Tenreiro, Ico Parisi and Ignazio Gardella. Looking further back in time, a group of eighteenth-century Venetian mirrors offers a brief journey through the history of decorative arts, creating an ideal thread that connects these works to the origins of collectible design.
The selection reflects Nilufar’s ever-evolving path, driven by a continuous desire to push beyond established boundaries. By bringing together different worlds within a coherent vision, Nilufar’s participation in Raritas expresses its multifaceted identity while reaffirming its commitment to presenting collectible design as a space for dialogue, experimentation and discovery.
“I’m fascinated by the idea of contributing to something new and supporting a project that looks ahead, thanks to the curatorial sensibility of Annalisa Rosso, the vision of FormaFantasma and the energy of Maria Porro, with whom I share the belief in a design culture capable of opening up new fields of meaning. Rather than anticipating what comes next, I prefer to keep challenging myself, trusting in the new and in that pioneering spirit which, I believe, is part of Nilufar’s DNA.” Nina Yashar
