Purble Nebula-Objects Of Common Interest
After the resounding success of last year's solo exhibition, Objects of Common Interest returns to Nilufar for Milan Design Week 2024 to present their latest collection, Purple Nebula. The design duo draws inspiration from the cosmic wonders of outer space, particularly the ethereal nebulas where the color purple reigns supreme. Purple, a hue rarely found in natural formations on Earth, fills the celestial landscapes of nebulas, born from the explosive aftermath of massive star supernovas. The repository of celestial phenomena from NASA, with its X-ray images capturing these mesmerizing spectacles, serves as the muse for Objects of Common Interest's latest endeavor. This collection reimagines the dining area as a monochromatic sanctuary, where subtle hints of purple beckon the viewer into a space of communal gathering and introspection. Drawing inspiration from the swirling masses of nebulas, semitransparent curtains and a carpet define a circular expanse, enveloping visitors in an intimate yet expansive ambiance. Visitors are encouraged to immerse themselves in an exploration of visual and tactile textures, as well as varying levels of transparency within this mesmerizing environment. Objects of Common Interest invites guests to experience the fusion of materiality, color and cosmic inspiration first-hand, creating a truly immersive and thought-provoking installation at Nilufar.
