Cabinet Columnae Low
A graduate of Central Saint Martins, milan-based designer Filippo Carandini has previously worked as an art director at Baleri italia and Palomba Serafini Associati. In 2011, Carandini started his own studio with a focus on interior design and his furniture emphasizes bold color schemes, rich textures and subtle artistic references.
A quadriptych of four cupboards in different heights, the Columnae pieces place the chromatic component front and center. Layers of acrylic colors have been applied by hand to the cupboard doors and then coated with a high-gloss finish to give a rich, pictorial quality to the furniture. Part of the New Pompeii furniture series, the pieces feature side panels and handle in metal and an internal structure in wood.
