Combining his broad experiences in other fields—including as a chef and foundry metal worker—with his keen eye for finding the obscure aspects of daily life that would typically go unnoticed, Trayte’s sculptures and installations come together organically in his studio in Margate, UK. “I'm constantly seeking out unique specimens to mold and transform into metal, whether it's scouring urban supermarkets or exploring rural farmers’ markets and domestic vegetable gardens across Europe,” explains Trayte. Resulting in a wide variety of forms and textural compositions “Some pieces are also modeled, offering distinctive forms slightly larger than life or strikingly flamboyant in shape.”
