For Milan Design Week 2025, the second floor of Nilufar Depot becomes the stage for Nilufar Edition, the third act of the ‘Repertorio’ exhibition curated by Nina Yashar, featuring a special interior set-up designed by Andrea Mancuso. Nilufar Edition marks a significant evolution for Nilufar, expanding into new cultural and creative horizons. The exhibition will showcase a collection of new designs, including sofas, dining tables, rugs, and lamps, establishing Nilufar as an enduring and timeless design project.
The exhibition’s installation reimagines design as the architecture of living, creating ever-changing spaces that embody identity and experimentation. At the heart of Nilufar Edition is the evolving concept of home—transcending mere functionality to become a vessel of memory, identity, and cultural expression. From the ancient Roman domus to Le Corbusier’s modernist vision, the home has long been a space for experimentation. Nilufar Edition embraces this ongoing dialogue, showcasing both new designs and reinterpreted classics that celebrate tradition while pushing its boundaries.
The architectural intervention redefines the structure of the Depot, introducing elements that transform the familiar space into a more fluid, domestic, and theatrical environment. By incorporating architectural elements of the home, Mancuso’s installation fosters a sense of familiarity while encouraging exploration. False walls, stairs, doors, and windows create glimpses into different areas, generating a continuous sense of discovery. The theatrical backdrops amplify the feeling of infinite space, blurring the perception of boundaries. The experience becomes a journey for visitors, inviting them to navigate rooms, textures, and color contrasts in an ever-evolving setting.
“After years of collaboration with Mancuso, it’s wonderful to finally work together on the Nilufar Edition set-up for Milan Design Week,” says Nina Yashar. “His idea of dividing the living space into sections with fictional architectural elements truly brought the space to life, creating a ‘home’ feel that resonates throughout.”
A centerpiece of the Nilufar Edition collection is ‘Lisboa’, a new sofa inspired by 1950s design, designed by Lucia Ippolito. Featuring a wooden backrest that doubles as a bookshelf, ‘Lisboa’ blends functionality with refined aesthetics. Complementing the design are the ‘Lisboa’ armchairs, striking a perfect balance between vintage sophistication and modern comfort. Two new series of coffee tables by Maarten De Ceulaer—crafted from wood and marble—exemplify the collection’s commitment to material exploration and versatility.
The exhibition also debuts a new collection of rugs designed by Allegra Hicks, which anchor the spaces with warmth and individuality. The renowed ‘Mensa’ table, designed by Filippo Carandini, returns in a rectangular form, available in new hand-painted finishes, alongside a new console that echoes its artistry. These pieces transform dining into an intimate yet striking experience, blending formality with playful creativity through a masterful combination of materials, finishes, and colors.
More than just a furniture and decor showcase, Yashar’s vision of the home invites us to reimagine the possibilities of everyday spaces. The project reflects the versatility of Nilufar Edition project—customizable furnishings available in a wide range of materials and colors, created in collaboration with some of the most influential contemporary designers personally selected by Yashar to reinterpret elements of both past and present.
With Nilufar Edition, Nilufar continues to redefine the parameters of design, promoting design pieces that emphasize attention to detail and craftsmanship, all while maintaining a commitment to excellence and innovation.
