Afra and Tobia Scarpa
Afra Scarpa (Montebelluna, 1937 – 2011), Tobia Scarpa (Venezia, 1935)
“One cannot work on an object solely according to geometric patterns; we must let ourselves be led by things born and developed according to nature, not according to our own will.”
Defined by an elegant and refined taste, Afra Bianchin and Tobia Scarpa began their collaboration with the design of the Pigreco armchair on the occasion of the design furniture laboratory led by Franco Albini (1959). A deep, almost physical, connection with materials guided the designers towards a number of important achievements, including the Compasso d’Oro Award for the Soriana armchair. Their historic collaboration with Maxalto gave life to iconic and timeless products.
