Oscar Niemeyer

(Rio de Janeiro, 1905 - 2012)

A prominent figure in the architectural renewal process of Brazilian cities, Oscar Niemeyer should also be remembered for his sculptural furnishings. Passionate about the close relationship between architecture and interior design, he designed his first furniture for the buildings he was commissioned. The use of curved lines, indispensable both in his architectural and design work, produced furniture characterized by free and sensual plastic forms, always projected towards a constantly, evolving future.
