Angelo Mangiarotti

(Milano, 1921 – 2012)

“The fundamental starting point for designing an object lies in its usefulness. An object that does not arise from a necessity cannot even be considered as belonging to the category of design.”

Designer, architect and sculptor, Angelo Mangiarotti’s practice was characterized by a strong interest and curiosity for materials and their manufacturing. Forms and technical solutions were always investigated and constructed avoiding what he deemed as inappropriate and inconsistent.
