Pentimenti - Analogia Project
ANALOGIA PROJECT’S ANDREA MANCUSO UNVEILS HIS PENTIMENTI FURNITURE COLLECTION IN A SOLO EXHIBITION — Viale Lancetti 34 – Milan, IT
From April 15th, 2024
Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday 10AM—7PM (open on Sunday April 21st, 2024)
Press Preview: Sunday April 14th, 10AM—4PM
Andrea Mancuso, creative director of Analogia Project, presents a thoughtful investigation of process and form by experimenting with mark making on marble in a dynamic exploration of technique and material. Hosted by Nilufar, the solo exhibition of limited-edition furniture occupies 200m² on the second floor of Nilufar’s Viale Lancetti venue in its Palcoscenico space. The Italian designer’s attention to marble is inspired by the concept of pentimenti, which refers to the changes artists make while painting or drawing an original work. These pieces evoke the exploration and experimentation at the heart of the artistic process. Pentimenti spotlights hidden aspects of the design process, featuring doodles and abstract lines that gradually take shape in the real world. Mancuso’s interpretation delves into the creative use of various materials, including marble, glass and bronze, to create contemporary dining tables, coffee tables, consoles, vessels and lighting. Each form is a canvas to showcase a series of neo-artisanal elements, entitled Sgraffito, Strata and Stria. This new collection of objects represents Analogia Project’s focus on craft-driven techniques: drawing with pen and paper, and modeling concepts in plasticine by hand, while diving into research-driven processes and studies that lead to novel material applications. Mancuso adopts a blend of cutting-edge technology and traditional craftsmanship, revealing the essence of what Leonardo da Vinci referred to as componimento inculto, the untamed composition that breathes life into the soul’s movements.
COLLABORATIVE PARTNERS: Del Savio 1910, Fischbacher 1819
