Nomad St. Moritz 2024
Nilufar attends NOMAD St. Moritz 2024 with an installation designed to encourage the interdisciplinary dialogue promoted by the fair. The project sees a fusion of vintage and contemporary objects which embody the signature style of Nina Yashar. Set inside the impressive grounds of the Hotel Eden and framed by the panoramas of the Engadine, the installation presents a fascinating combination of different styles, techniques and materials.
NOMAD St. Moritz offers the opportunity to exchange ideas between design, art and architecture, highlighting dynamism and creativity in the contemporary design scene.
"I experience design as a journey through the visions, imaginations and lives of many cultures and places. NOMAD embodies this sense of unending curiosity. This always stimulating event offers an opportunity to share different facets of creativity from all corners of the globe,” explains Nilufar founder Nina Yashar.
At this year's edition, Nilufar presents an impressive selection of vintage design, including creations by Italian designer Gabriella Crespi whose astute use of materials such as bamboo and rattan is combined with a unique creative vision for objects that via openings and closures constantly change and cleverly occupy space. It’s a style that sits between "spirit and matter, art and design." From the 1950s there will be displayed armchairs from B.B.P.R. and chests of drawers designed by Jacques Adnet.
Among the contemporary pieces is an important number of works by Lebanese designer Khaled El Mays from his Flora collection, characterized by organic shapes and references to the natural world. One will find floor lamps, club chairs, sofas and benches present. In addition, Italian designer Christian Pellizzari shows new creations specially designed for the event: luminous works in Murano glass which include floor lamps, table lamps and wall lamps. On display will be a new piece from Italian talent Maximilian Marchesani as well as works by designer Lola Montes Schnabel, with paintings and candlesticks from the Artichoke series. Rounding off the presentation are 3D-printed sculptures by French artist Audrey Large, a magnetic carpet in silver and gold metallic yarn by French designer Thierry Betancourt and a gold square coffee table from the Milan-Dubai based architecture studio Etereo.
