Swedish carpet

The year was 1998, Nina Yashar presented a groundbreaking exhibition entitled “Tappeti svedesi e mobili scandinavi” (Swedish rugs and Scandinavian furniture). The show mixed the work of Alvar Aalto, Hans Wegner and Arne Jacobsen, while introducing for the first time ever the recurring theme of juxtaposition of furniture and rugs.

One of the first focus of Nilufar’s new website could not be about anything but Swedish carpet. As explained by Nina Yashar: “Swedish carpets represented a total newness: they were reminiscent of oriental decorative motifs, but they pointed towards a much fresher, more modern and less boring direction than traditional Persian rugs. Those rugs marked an important change in the language of my Gallery”.
