Simon Ballen Botero

Simón Ballen Botero (1992) is a Colombian product designer, an explorer, and a passionate about local traditions. His work resonates with anthropology while he explores issues around crafts, identity, heritage and material culture.
He has built a practice around design as a narrative medium that makes use of the local realities, to create objects and tools for discourse and empowerment. Simón has lived and studied in Colombia, Italy, Finland, Iceland, and the Netherlands. Besides, he has traveled and worked with different craftsmen, communities and indigenous cultures in Europe and Latin America.
