PAD London - 2015
London, UK
Nilufar is delighted to present a selection of pieces from diverse eras and aesthetic ideals that engage in synergic dialogue within the setting created by Nina Yashar. The timeless design of the great masters of the twentieth century is accompanied by the refined sophistication of contemporary pieces, creating surprising harmonies. The lustre of metal is the common thread running through the contemporary selection: from silver coated glass on the Specchio di Venere table by Massimiliano Locatelli to the laminate seen on the screens by Martino Gamper, from the natural bronze of the pieces by Osanna Visconti di Modrone to the silver-plated brass of Hercolanum by Piotr Sierakowski, from the Cherry Bomb flush mount lighting in blown glass by Lindsey Adelman to the Relief console structure by Nucleo and the precious brass details of the Chaise Maurice chair by david/nicolas.
Tirreno, a cabinet made by Roberto Giulio Rida with glass from the ‘50s and ‘60s and no longer in production, is also present among the contemporary works on display. To celebrate the 2015 edition of PAD London, Nilufar presents the Pendant 5 lamp, designed by Michael Anastassiades exclusively for the gallery. Pendant 5 is part of the One Well-Known Sequence collection, a series of eleven metal lamps with linear, clean designs that will be exhibited from 12 to 17 October in the designer’s new London studio. Extraordinary pieces by twentieth century masters such as Gio Ponti, Hos Wulff, Franco Albini, Vico Magistretti, Marcel Breuer, Gustav Axel Berg, Gabriella Crespi, James Mont and Gaetano Sciolari complete the installation.
