PAD London - 2016

London, UK

Elegance is the leitmotif that interfaces Brazil and the Western world in Nilufar’s contribution to PAD London 2016. The sinuous tropical lines of vintage Brazilian furnishings from the first half of the 20th century – museum pieces by Jorge Zalszupin, the great master Joaquim Tenreiro, José Zanine Caldas and Martin Eisler – trigger a natural blend with the forms of Italian masters like Gabriella Crespi, Max Ingrand and Gio Ponti.

The soft lines of these creations encounter the solid, arithmetic contemporary language, through contrast: brass bookcases by Massimiliano Locatelli - CLS architetti, kaleidoscopic one-off seats by Martino Gamper, the eclectic visions of Kiki van Eijk from the Physical Interaction and Civilised Primitives collections. To light the space, dreamy contemporary projects by Lindsey Adelman and Studio Furthermore, reflected by the site-specific jewel-rug by Hechizoo - Jorge Lizarazo - Colombia.
